I love Eileen Cook’s books. They’re well-written and comforting. I like to think of them as the hot chocolate of the book world. You can generally be sure of a great feel-good story in an Eileen Cook novel. Note that I said “generally”. This book is not one of those occasions. Yes it was well-written and impossible to put down like other books of hers that I’ve read. But if Cook’s other works are hot chocolate this one is a dark coffee. It’s strong and will keep you up all night.Jill wakes up in the hospital with no memory of the past six weeks. She has no memory of her trip to Italy, no memory of her best friend’s death and especially no memory of killing her. Simone and Jill had been friends since fourth grade. Jill may not have her memory but she knows she would never kill her best friend. However the media, her school, her friends, family and the Italian police all seem to think differently. As more evidence comes to light, even Jill starts to doubt her innocence. This book was impossible to put down. I suspected the ending but it was still a shock. Fans of mystery and Eileen Cook will love this book. It’s so different from the other books of hers I’ve read but it’s also so damned great!Get yourself a copy ASAP!
