Scarred by Joanne Macgregor
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Sloane Munster (or Monster as some not-very-kind people call her) runs into Luke when she starts at a new school. Sloane was involved in a horrific accident that left her scarred and as soon as Luke sees her, he is repulsed by her new look. Or so it seems.
Unknown to Sloane, Luke has his own reasons for the animosity he feels towards her. Fate keeps dragging them together both in and out of school.
This is a story about Luke and Sloane’s pasts, their feelings for one another as well as the multitude of bullying that takes place at their school.
I loved how real this novel was. Several times I had to put the book down because the mean people here- be it a teacher, a parent or other teens- reminded me a little too much of people I’ve encountered in my own life. This book is excellently written and draws the reader in easily. I’m actually sad to see this book end. I’d love to read more about Sloane and Luke.
