My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Heads up- the book is part of a series. It also has a cliffhanger ending that made me wail in frustration. This book has an excellent plot. However it doesn’t deliver as well as it could. Emily wakes up with no memory of her past. She has had a surgery to purposely remove her memories. I wish there was more detail given about this. It’s just referred to as a surgery. Why doesn’t this procedure have a name? What does it entail? Soon Emily finds herself caught in a war. But with no memory of her past she isn’t sure who to trust or what exactly it is that people are looking for from her.
The first 48% (my Kindle measured it) was difficult to get through. There was too much new information all at once and I found it difficult to concentrate.
The second half of the novel had me glued to the pages. The action picked up sufficiently, I knew what was happening and there was no more overload of information. I couldn’t read fast enough. I was actually really sad when I reached the end because “that can’t be it!!!”.
I had a small breakdown once I reached the ending because I desperately wanted more. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more.
