Waiting on Wednesday: The Scandalous Flirt by Olivia Drake

I thought that this seemed like an interesting read and I eagerly added it to my TBR…and then I looked at the author’s name- Olivia Drake is the author of the “Cinderella Sisterhood”. More importantly, this book is the latest in that series so I now absolutely have to read ASAP!!! I love the “Cinderella Sisterhood” novels. They’re historical fiction loosely based on fairytales. And somehow, they have something to do with magical red shoes. I’m sharing the full synopsis below:

Synopsis from Netgalley.com:

Scandal begins with just one kiss. . .

Aurora Paxton was once the belle of the ball, the most sought-after debutante of the season—until a scandalous mistake ruined her.Shunned by her family, Rory was banished to the country to live in disgrace. Now she’s been summoned back to London by her stepmother, who is being blackmailed by the least likely person Rory can imagine: Lucas Vale, Marquess of Dashell.

Lucas is someone Rory’s known for years—a man as devastatingly handsome as he is coldly disapproving of her. What in the world could he want from her or her family? Rory intends to find out as soon as she comes face to face with her old foe. What she never expects, however, is that the icy aristocrat has a soft spot for her—and a secret plan to redeem her status. Could it be that Lucas has been in love with Rory all along. . .and has finally found a way to win her heart?

Fiction Friday: Book Review- Spellbound and Ever After by Nora Roberts

Spellbound & Ever AfterSpellbound & Ever After by Nora Roberts
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I think this book was a good read but just not a very realistic one. Both stories deal with the supernatural and of course love is the answer for these two couples. However while Nora Roberts normally uses these elements flawlessly, I found this novel difficult to follow.
The first story, “Spellbound” tells of a couple who have been separated through death and are now brought together. But while Bryna accepts their destiny together (since she has always known Calin is the one for her), Calin is far more disbelieving (which is ridiculous considering he had a childhood of the supernatural). However the story betwen Bryna and Calin is sweet and well-developed despite it’s relatively short length. I really enjoyed this story.
The second story, “Ever After” was just a really painful read. There was too much of insta-love and I did not find any of it believable. The characters seemed weak and I found the entire story to be over-done.
I warn anyone considering this book to proceed with caution.

Fiction Friday: Book Review- Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen (Brooklyn Bruisers #1)

Rookie Move (Brooklyn Bruisers, #1)Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ve been stalking this book ever since I read an extract on Netgalley. I’m pleased to say that the actual book exceeded my expectations. Georgia and Leo were first loves and high school sweethearts. But then something happened that tore them apart. Years later neither of them are over it and the connection between them is as intense as ever.I loved this book. I’m a huge fan of Sarina Bowen’s writing and I love that her characters are always so real. This novel is no exception. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. I’ve gotten really attached to these characters. They’re all so lively and fun. I think all romance fans should read this book.

Fiction Friday: More Than You Know (The Harrisons #1) by Jennifer Gracen

More Than You Know (The Harrisons, #1)
More Than You Know by Jennifer Gracen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

You know you’ve picked up a jewel when you pick up a Jennifer Gracen novel. This book had a beautiful blend of romance, drama and dysfunctional families (the latter two being two of my weak points when it comes to romance novels). Dane is looking for a singer for his new hotel. When he finds Julia she is perfect. Both for the job and for him. However Julia has a dark past of her own that refuses to let her get close to anyone. I loved that this book had two characters that were so alike in such different ways. This book is well-written and interesting. The characters are real, there’s enough tension to keep you constantly turning the pages and there’s a beautiful ending.

November 9
November 9 by Colleen Hoover

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story has a sweet idea but falls flat towards the end. It seems like the characters are dragging out their romance simply because November 9 is a special day for them. If you look past that obvious flaw this is an amazing book, well-written with intriguing characters.
Fallon and Ben have an instant connection and because she is moving away, decide to meet every year on November 9. However life gets in the way and as they grow, they struggle to keep to their arrangement.

Waiting on Wednesday: Marrying Winterborne (The Ravenels #2) by Lisa Kleypas

I love Lisa Kleypas’ work especially her historical romance. The Ravenels series reminds me of the Hathaways so I can’t wait to read the next book. I just know it’s going to be a gem. Her writing is flawless and her characters are always so real.

Fiction Friday: Book Review- Every Move She Makes (Who’s Watching Now #1) by Jannine Gallant

Every Move She Makes (Who's Watching Now, #1)Every Move She Makes by Jannine Gallant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was a total gem and I expected no less. Rachel leads a calm life with her three children. When she meets Kane she is instantly attracted to him. But a trip to test the waters of their budding relationship turns deadly when it’s revealed that Rachel has a crazy stalker.Obviously this book frustrated me when I had no idea who the stalker was and yes I loved every minute of it regardless. I did eventually figure out who her stalker was which didn’t diminish the fun of the book. This book is excellently written with an intriguing plot
