The Stanislaski Brothers by Nora Roberts

I really enjoy Nora Roberts’ books especially when stories from the same universe or timeline are packaged together.
The Stanislaski Brothers follow the two men in the Stanislaski family. I remember reading Taming Natasha long ago and while I do not remember much of the book, I do remember that I enjoyed it immensely.
This book was no different.
I loved getting another look at the Stanislaskis. This family is colorful like all of Nora Roberts’ families however each and every individual has their own personality which is fleshed out fully in each novel.
The Stanislaski Brothers is incredibly well-written with clear chemistry between both pairings. The plot is pretty predictable but I am reading these books for comfort and not mind-boggling plot twists.
If you are looking for a romance read, I always suggest Nora Roberts because her style of writing is like that of a friend reciting a story.
Just maybe, give the entire series a try for this kooky family

Fiction Friday: Book Review- In Five Years by Rebecca Serle

Dannie is on her way to her dream job and her dream life. After she aces an interview for a job that she has been eyeing for a while, her boyfriend proposes to her. Dannie is ecstatic knowing that everything in her life is going exactly how it she planned.
But then she goes to sleep and wakes up in a different apartment, with a different man and according to the TV, five years in the future.
Dannie goes to sleep again and wakes up back in 2020 as she is supposed to be. As time goes on, Dannie passes off this odd event as an unusual dream.
But four-and-a-half years later, she meets the man from her strange dream and her world is turned upside down.
I do not know how I heard of this book but once I purchased a copy I finished it in one go.
This book was gripping, emotional and heart-breaking. I couldn’t read fast enough.
If you are looking for a book that just grabs you and makes you forget you are reading, this is the book to try!
What is an Informational Interview and How to Get One?

I really really wish we did more informational interviews in the world. Like it needs to become the norm in your educational career (Seriously, can I speak to someone about this?) An informational interview is simply a conversation or an interview between you and someone who works in a field that you are interested in.
Informational interviews are a great way to find out if a specific field or career is for you. I have had two informational interviews in my life and in both cases, those interviews were the deciding factor when it came to me pursuing those fields.
So how do you get an informal interview? Simply find people in the field or fields you are interested in. You can do this by using LinkedIn, social media sites such as Facebook or Instagram or you can ask people you know if you know someone who can help you. Another great option is to look for a company that you are interested in and just do some research on who works there and what they do. Once you have found your person or people, you need to obtain their contact details either to have a conversation via email, telephone or in-person.
I strongly recommend that whenever possible you go for the in-person option. It is an easier way to make an impression and be remembered.

Here are some tips on acing an informational interview
Go in prepared- Read over your resume so that you are familiar with your past work experience and work on your elevator pitch. Prepare for this the way you would for any other interview. Just make sure that you have more questions than you would for a regular interview. Remember the point of this is for you to figure out if this role is for you or not.
Research the company, the field and the individual– You want to show that you are familiar with the industry and you do have some sort of background knowledge on the company. Basically the golden rule of informational interviews is to prep the way you would for a regular interview but maybe prep twice as hard?
Come prepared with questions– You are meeting to gather information so come prepared with 3-5 questions on the role or that specific field.
Do not ask for a job– Remember that the point of this interview is information. Do not directly ask for a job.
An informational interview is an excellent way for you to learn more about a field, gain contacts in the field and in some cases even get your foot in the door.

I was going to start blogging again (those words sound fake even to me) but somehow time seemed to always get away from me.
Today was our Secret Santa at work and I got a really cute Harry Potter notebook. See pic below.
So I was minding my own business, flipping through this notebook when our Social Media Manager mentioned to me that this book would be excellent for me to start writing again. Firstly I hadn’t even thought of writing in this book. But then she said “it’s been over a year since your last post.”
I didn’t know how she knew that (but she was a little creepy like that when it came to our social media accounts) but I was stunned to realize she was right. It had been a year (possibly more) since I last created blog content.
So I know this isn’t actually proper content and is just a “I’m back” post but I’m back. I’m going to start posting more regularly. I’m done with my studies for a while so I really feel like I can commit to blogging again.
